Introduction

We are delighted to invite you to contribute a chapter to our forthcoming edited volume, "Integrated Approaches for Sustainable E-Waste Management." This book aims to present a comprehensive examination of the challenges and opportunities associated with the sustainable management of electronic waste (e-waste). As one of the fastest-growing waste streams globally, e-waste poses significant environmental and public health challenges that require innovative and interdisciplinary solutions. This edited volume will explore the entire lifecycle of electronic products, from design to disposal, and will highlight strategies and solutions to minimize the environmental impact of e-waste while maximizing resource recovery and reuse. Our goal is to bring together diverse perspectives and expertise from various disciplines, including industrial engineering, environmental engineering, computer engineering, electronic engineering, and management science, to provide a holistic and integrated approach to e-waste management.

Objective

This publication will significantly impact the research community by advancing the understanding of e-waste management through a holistic and interdisciplinary lens. By showcasing integrated approaches and best practices, it aims to inspire new research directions and foster collaboration among various stakeholders. The insights and recommendations presented will also have the potential to shape policy development, industry practices, and educational programs, thereby contributing to environmental protection and resource conservation on a global scale. Main objectives of the book is as follows: To offer a multidisciplinary perspective on the sustainable management of e-waste, encompassing design, manufacturing, usage, and disposal phases. To explore cutting-edge strategies and best practices for reducing the environmental impact of e-waste and enhancing resource recovery and reuse. To provide insights and recommendations that can influence policy development, industry standards, and educational curricula related to e-waste management. To advance knowledge and understanding of e-waste management, inspiring further research and collaboration among scholars, practitioners, policymakers, and industry stakeholders.

Target Audience

The intended audience for this book includes researchers, academics, students, policymakers, environmentalists, and professionals working in fields related to industrial engineering, environmental engineering, computer engineering, electronic engineering, and management science. It will serve as a valuable resource for graduate and undergraduate courses in sustainability, waste management, engineering sciences, green manufacturing, and supply chain management. Additionally, industry professionals involved in electronics manufacturing, recycling, and regulatory compliance will find practical insights and guidance for implementing sustainable e-waste management practices within their organizations.
