The book is written in plain language and does not require special preparation to understand its contents. Its advantage is the actuality of issues relating to the teachings of ICT.

– Professor Jerzy Kisielnicki, Warsaw University, Poland

The Encyclopedia of Information Science and Technology (3rd Edition) is not just for academics and government executives. CIOs and managers of major information systems will find tremendous value, as will their counterparts in the commercial sector. In addition, MBA students as well as project management and IT students will appreciate discovering the unique comprehensive coverage and up-to-date definitions of the most important issues, concepts, trends and technologies in IS and IT. Though it’s a third edition, this massive set’s 760 articles are all new and aim to provide “the most comprehensive, innovative, and in-depth coverage of the current concepts, issues, and emerging technologies in the field of information science and technology.” [...]

Verdict: Large academic libraries will find that this massive, up-to-date undertaking fills coverage gaps in many areas, including computing, social science, and business.

– Henrietta Verma, Library Journal, November 2014

This latest version is a massive set that stretches over ten volumes with a total of 758 individual articles. All of the articles are original in this edition, and the scope has been expanded to cover a total of 100 topic areas. […] Emphasizing all topics both historical and current that might be seen as germane to information science and technology, the focus of the Encyclopedia is more on issues and concepts that are perceived as presently relevant to researchers. Each article ends with an often impressive bibliography of sources referenced and a selected list of additional readings, as well as a brief glossary of terms.

– Tom Gilson, Against the Grain, Vol. 23: Issue 3
