The International Journal of Contemporary Islamic Studies (IJCIS) is a peer-reviewed, open access publication that includes qualitative research studies that explores Islam across numerous disciplines and fields of study. This scholarly platform seeks to analyze the interplay between Islamic traditions, diverse sociocultural contexts, and the dynamic forces of globalization, technological advancement, political dynamics, and socio-economic changes. The journal’s international context will bring new understandings of Islam by placing it in a contemporary context to understand its meanings for social justice. The journal moves the study of Islam beyond religious studies to include studies that connect it to a wide range of disciplines and fields of studies. It is particularly interested in topics covering the Nation of Islam to include a field of study known as Elijah Muhammad Studies. The journal provides a platform for researchers, academics, and practitioners to contribute original insights, critical analyses, and nuanced perspectives that enrich the scholarly understanding of Islamic studies in the present day.

The International Journal of Contemporary Islamic Studies (IJCIS) publishes qualitative research studies that will contribute to a better understanding of Islam in contemporary times. Its mission is to engender a platform where the multifaceted dimensions of Islam’s interface with the modern world are analyzed. It seeks to facilitate scholarly dialogue that traverses the intricate contours if Islamic though, culture, society, and politics in the modern era. The journal is particularly interested in Nation of Islam studies which will bring together scholars whose work is particularly focused on this movement. The international component of the journal expands the discussion of Islam to include diverse perspectives while simultaneously connecting it to numerous disciplines and fields of study. It moves the study of Islam beyond the academic discipline of religious studies to include areas such as education, leadership, sociology, political science, liberation theology, ethnic studies, hip hop, astronomy, climate justice, health and medicine, physics, among many other areas of study.

What Does IGI Global's Open Access APC Cover?
In the traditional subscription-based model, the cost to the publisher to produce each article is covered by the revenue generated by journal subscriptions.
Under OA, all the articles are published under a Creative Commons (CC BY) license; therefore, the authors or funding body will pay a one-time
article processing charge (APC) to offset the costs of all of the activities associated with the publication of the article manuscript, including:
- Digital tools used to support the manuscript management and review process
- Typesetting, formatting and layout
- Online hosting
- Submission of the journal's content to numerous abstracts, directories, and indexes
- Third-party software (e.g. plagiarism checks)
- Editorial support which includes manuscript tracking, communications, submission guideline checks, and communications with authors and reviewers
- All promotional support and activities which include metadata distribution, press releases, promotional communications, web content, ads, fliers, brochures, postcards, etc. for the journal and its published contents
- The fact that all published articles will be freely accessible and able to be posted and disseminated widely by
the authors - Professional line-by-line English language copy editing and proofreading*
